Hi!! It's Kathia again from Pink Little Cake Blog. I don't know about you, but I LOVE Hot Air Balloons! They are so colorful and look like so much fun to ride in. As much as I can imagine myself floating over the rolling hills of green and small country towns, I know this will not be in my future anytime soon because I am afraid of heights.
However this doesn't mean I can't make Hot Air Balloon cookies to eat now does it? This Hot Air Balloon Cookie Cutter has the power to take you up, up and way! It's a great size, and gives you plenty of space to work on many different designs. Hot Air Balloon parties are becoming very popular, and I know these cookies can be customized for different themes such as birthday parties and baby showers. The possibilities are endless! Well that's enough chit chat. Let's make some cookies!
To Make These Cookies You Will Need The Following Supplies
Outline the balloon using tip #2. I used different amounts of pink in my royal icing to get a lighter color to flood the cookie, and a darker color for the outlines and details.
Flood the balloon with medium icing consistency using the lighter shade of pink. Then use the black icing for the basket. Allow the cookie to dry overnight.
Use tip #1 and stiff icing to make the small bunting. Start by drawing a string that bunting flags hang from, then outline and fill the little flags.
Use tip #1 again with black icing to draw the suspension cables to the basket.
Another option when decorating this cookie is to add the details while the icing is still wet. Just use tip #1 and draw a black chevron pattern on the cookie while the icing is still wet. Let your imagination flow with creativity.
